South African flying safari – Madikwe Hills, Kings Camp and Leopard Hills.

Our first safari many years ago was to South Africa and we went to a place called Leopard Hills in the Sabi Sabi that borders the Kruger game reserve. I guess this got us hooked on safaris and have been all over Africa on safari. We’ve decided to revisit Leopard Hills and also try two of their other properties, Madikwe Hills and Kings Camp. We are flying to Johannesburg then having a day to chill out before starting the safaris. Although there isn’t really jet lag from the UK to SA flying is tiring so a chill out day is in order.

Madikwe Hills – Madikwe Private Reserve

First it’s off to Madikwe Hills on a small plane. Madikwe is still in South Africa but very close to the Botswana border. Madikwe is malaria free and is also the fifth largest game reserve in South Africa .

Kings Camp – Timbavati Private Reserve

We then again use a small plane to transfer to Kings Camp  in Timbavati which is on the edge of the Kruger NP.

Blyde River Canyon

When we transfer to Leopard Hills we’ll take a helicopter over Blyde River Canyon then briefly land on the top of the pinnacles for a picnic.

Elephant Whispers

After a picnic on the top off the pinnacle it’s off to see Elephants being rehabilitated at the Elephant Whisperer.

Leopard Hills – Sabi Sabi Private Reserve

Leopard Hills is our final destination of this trip
