Safari, Sharks then Sightseeing.

We start off by flying to Johannesburg for a quick overnight stop before flying onto Hoedspruit and Vuyani Safari Lodge for safari then heading via Cape Town to the coastal town of Hermanus to interact with the aquatic wildlife and finally ending up at Camps Bay where we can chill out and perhaps head to the wine area.

Vuyani Safari Lodge

Vuyani Safari Lodge is in the Moditlo Estate, and part of the huge Blue-Canyon Private Game reserve which borders the Kruger National Park. We’ve previously stayed in this area at Kings Camp and loved it. After reading the amazing reviews on Trip Advisor rather than splitting our time between two different area/camps we’ve decided this year to just stay longer in the same camp to fully sample the hospitality and maybe have the odd lie in to make it more relaxing.

Scopions

Last night we saw a rather large scorpion on our deck, but we were assured not to worry because “it’s the small scorpions that really hurt”.
Whilst packing to leave the safari camp Lynn put her hand into her bag and let out a piercing scream, she had been stung by a scorpion.
Unfortunately, this was a small scorpion and as the doctor said “it is gonna hurt like shit for three days and I’ve known grown men cry as the pain is so intense“.
It’s amazing how wrong Dr Google was as it recommended ice when it was heat that was needed. This is correct as I remembered a guy getting stung by lionfish underwater and had to put his hand in very hot water to try to neutralise the venom.
So dosed up with anti histamine, paracetamol, ibrufen and a hot water bottle to help break down the venom it’s off to the airport and onto the next part of our trip…..
After a rough night the pain had subsided a bit but left numbness in the hand.

Personally think leopards are the most beautiful of the big cats, cheetah spend a lot of time sleeping and lions, well I guess they are the king of the jungle.

If you’re going to see elephants you may as well have a herd and be amongst them…. And if its rhinos you don’t want just the one….
