We started off this leg of the trip up the coast by staying in Malibu, home to the stars – what a place, our RV park was right on the coast with a lovely view for the sunset. We got a site that looked ok but then found another that was absolutely fantastic, the views were unbelievable and we had our own private deck overlooking the Pacific Ocean.
From here we headed up through Santa Barbara then onto Pismo Beach for a night. Here things got a bit weird. Paul did a BBQ and after the food was cooked threw the coals into the camp fire, but unbeknown to him the picnic table had caught alight underneath and continued to burn away through the night until a security guard rudely woke us early in the morning shouting “hey man your table’s alight”. The site was very understanding, took the debris away, believe it or not with a fork lift truck and said they thought it may have been “weakened” by a previous person and didn’t charge us. All that was left were a couple of bits of 6″ x 2″ of wood….

We then headed up the coast via a curious little town called Cambria that was in the middle of having a scarecrow festival!

Then onto Hearst Castle, which is spectacular to say the least.

After this we headed up the coast to the northern section of the PCH and Big Sur
