We don’t have any long distance travels booked for the foreseeable future as we have had something of a change in our personal circumstances, no we haven’t gone bankrupt, got divorced or even developed a fear of flying.
We have bought a second home across in the Lake District and intend spending as much time as possible there. For those of you who don’t know this area it is home to William Wordsworth, Beatrix Potter and the Wainrights. Paul has climbed all of the 214 Wainrights, quite often in inclement weather and has now decided to do them again but this time with Ruby and also to get a good view off the top each time – may take a while then! There is absolutely loads to do in this beautiful area of England and no two days are the same.

Below are some pics of our new house.

For those of you that haven’t been to the Lakes we have put some pics in a gallery below and you will see that it is dramatic at most times of the year and also come rain or shine.

It is also very quirky and below are some of the signs from around the Lakes

Don’t worry we haven’t hung up our travelling boots yet, just taking a breather. We still have some places on our radar, some of which Ruby can go to, for example:

  • Western Scotland in a motor home
  • Normandy Beaches again in a motor home
  • Europe again in a motor home

I think you may be getting the idea re motor homes – Ruby may need a passport – watch this space….

Other things we have been thinking about are as follows:

  • Trans Siberian trip – Moscow to Bejing – see the “stans”
  • New Zealand in motor home…
  • Uganda/Rwanda – see the gorillas
  • Oman self drive safari
  • Drive from Vic Falls to Cape Town
  • the list goes on and on

Oh I forgot Lynn still has her jaunts with the girls and leaves Paul in charge of things – pretty dangerous eh!

Below is a map showing where we are in the Lakes
